Surface mount device (SMD) soldering with stencils is a production skill that is necessary for anyone interested in mass producing electronics. You will need to be able to obtain your own stencils from a gerber file. You can either create your own using a CNC router or laser cutter or you can order some from a PCB fabrication house. Here is a presentation I made that is useful for teaching SMD stencil soldering. You’re probably going to want to lay off the coffee the first time you do some SMD soldering. The parts are small and the work is meticulous.
